Job Description Job Scope The Director, Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement Compliance has global compliance responsibility for all areas of Corporate Affairs, including Global Communications, Global and Regional Public Policy, U.S. Federal Policy, and Social Business Innovation (Global Impact Giving, Corporate Responsibility, Environmental Social & Governance, company for Mothers, Impact Investing, company Patient Assistance Program, and the company's Foundation) as well as the Patient Innovation & Engagement team within our Research and Development Division's Value & Implementation organization. The Director serves as a dedicated global business partner and active participant in the strategic and tactical decisions of Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement leadership. The Director demonstrates subject matter expertise in relevant laws, regulations, policies, and guidance, as well as a thorough understanding of client objectives and operational practices in order to support compliant execution of client activities. The candidate should have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment with both internal and external stakeholders. Major Activities and Responsibilities The Director, Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement Compliance is responsible for the following major activities: Provide independent oversight and high-quality compliance guidance across Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement. Advise, guide, and support compliance ownership by leaders within Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement. Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to ensure compliant business activities across Corporate Affairs and Patient Innovation & Engagement. Prepare and deliver presentations and training sessions designed to promote a culture of compliance. Counsel clients in the management of risks inherent in their business operations and in the assessment of risks inherent in proposed new initiatives. Work collaboratively with legal and compliance colleagues across the Offices of General Counsel- including with US Regulatory Legal and International Legal & Compliance teams - to provide consistent, compliant guidance to clients and coordinated, efficient client engagements with Offices of General Counsel team members. Qualifications Education: Juris Doctor (or international equivalent) required Required Experience & Skills 10 years of legal or compliance experience; Strong written, interpersonal, and oral communications skills, including the ability to draft SOPs and other guidance documents and to present to larger groups; Knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, and industry guidance governing the global conduct of business practices across all supported client groups; Experience and ability to counsel senior leaders and problem-solve on complex issues; Experience and ability to work closely with attorneys both in the U.S. and internationally; Ability to build trusted, collaborative working relationships with clients and cross-functional teams across varying levels of seniority; Strong issue-spotting, judgment, and decision-making skills related to compliance topics; Ability to persuade clients and drive behavioral change to support a compliance mindset amongst client groups.
