Clare County Council delivers a broad spectrum of public services in Clare, with a focus on making it a leading county for economic prosperity, social development, and environmental protection. The Council provides efficient and good value services, representing the people and communities of County Clare in an effective and accountable manner.
The Chief Executive plays a key role in developing and overseeing organisational structures and resources to deliver services to the public. A primary duty is to maximise the county's social, economic, cultural, and physical development, benefiting communities and citizens throughout the County and wider area.
The Chief Executive will manage the day-to-day operations of the local authority, including staffing matters, and discharge executive functions within policy parameters set by the elected council. The Chief Executive will also provide specific advice to elected members on policy determination in accordance with national policy and reserved functions.
To be successful, candidates must:
1. Demonstrate a proven track record as a strategic leader and senior manager in a complex environment.
2. Show experience in managing teams and significant resources.
3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, working effectively with various stakeholders.
4. Show understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, Ireland's local government and public administration systems.
5. Demonstrate strong motivation to develop and optimise Local Government performance, achieving the greatest benefit for County citizens.
