Duties and Responsibilities The role includes but is not limited to the following: · Holds the responsibility of the Safety of Virtus personnel, contractors and customers within Virtus Data Centre · Provide strategic leadership and direction to the operations team, including data Centre managers, technicians, and support staff. · Oversee all aspects of data Centre operations, including facility management, maintenance, security, and compliance. · Develop, implement and continuously improve operational policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure adherence to Virtus processes, industry standards and regulatory requirements. · Develop staff capabilities through programs and training, ensuring career development objectives are met. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and customer service, to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. · Monitor and optimize key performance metrics, such as uptime, efficiency, and capacity utilization, to meet SLAs and business objectives. · Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks. · Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met. · Develop and manage and refine the operations budget, forecasting expenses, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimization. · Stay informed of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data Centre operations, and make recommendations for adoption as appropriate. · Foster a culture of safety, ownership & accountability, deliver results and collaboration within the operations team, promoting employee development and engagement. What success looks like in 12 months: · Operational Excellence: The Berlin data centre operates at peak efficiency, with all systems and processes running smoothly and reliably. KPIs indicate high levels of performance and minimal downtime. · Client Satisfaction: Clients report high levels of satisfaction with the operational support and service provided by VIRTUS Data Centres. Client retention and engagement metrics show positive trends. · Team Performance: The operations team is cohesive, motivated, and highly effective. Team members demonstrate increased skills and performance, contributing to overall operational success. · Cost Management: Operational costs are managed within budget, with identified cost-saving initiatives successfully implemented. Resource utilization is optimized. · Continuous Improvement: Significant improvements in operational processes and procedures have been achieved, leading to enhanced efficiency and reliability. The data centre has adopted new technologies and best practices that position VIRTUS as an industry leader. · Compliance and Safety: The data centre is fully compliant with all industry standards and regulations. Health and safety metrics show a safe working environment with no major incidents. Person Specification Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; master's degree preferred. · Minimum of 10 years of experience in data Centre operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. · Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale data Centre facilities, including experience with mission-critical infrastructure and high-availability environments. · Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and drive results. · Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels. · In-depth knowledge of data Centre operations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, such as ISO, Uptime Institute, and GDPR. · Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. · Demonstrated ability to navigate complex business challenges, make sound decisions, and drive change in a dynamic environment.
