Unser Profil The Chair for Laser Technology LLT at RWTH Aachen University, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, forms one of the leading European research centers for applied laser technology. In our Quantum Photonics group, we develop innovative photonic technologies for future quantum networks. Our focus is on the development of high-performance photonic quantum interconnects that serve as interfaces between different quantum information platforms. Through our research, we enable the interconnectivity of heterogeneous quantum architectures and thus make a central contribution to the scalability and networking of quantum computers and communication systems. We cooperate with excellent international partners, including the Quantum Internet Alliance, and offer you the opportunity to further develop your research in a top-class scientific environment - including research stays at leading partner institutions. Ihr Profil You have successfully completed a university degree (master's degree or equivalent) and a PhD in physics, electrical engineering or a related field with a research focus on quantum networks, photonic components for quantum networks or integrated photonics. You would like to advance your scientific career and independently develop and lead new research projects. What you should bring with you: Experience in the field of quantum networks, quantum interconnects or integrated photonics (proven by your doctorate) Ability to conduct independent research and develop innovative experimental approaches Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the independent preparation of research proposals Supervision experience of doctoral candidates and students Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary and international partners Publication strength and enjoyment of scientific exchange at high-ranking conferences Experience in the field of nonlinear optics, quantum memory or frequency conversion is an advantage, but not essential. Ihre Aufgaben As a postdoc, you will play a central role in our research group and actively shape the development of photonic quantum interconnects. You will research innovative methods for adapting photonic wave packets to optimize interconnectivity in heterogeneous quantum networks and enable new network architectures. Your activities include: Independent realisation of difficult research tasks and development in the field of photonic technologies for quantum networks Acquisition and management of third-party funded projects, including the independent preparation of research proposals Supervision of doctoral candidates and students as well as support for scientific training Planning, construction and implementation of experiments and simulation models for the characterization and optimization of quantum networks Publication and presentation of your research results in top-class scientific journals and at international conferences Thanks to our close cooperation with leading research initiatives such as the Quantum Internet Alliance, you have the opportunity to test your developments in top-class demonstration experiments - also as part of research stays at excellent partner institutions. We offer you a highly innovative and dynamic research environment with excellent career prospects in science and industry.
