Job Description
We are on the lookout for a Senior Director, Head of Employment Law to lead our Employment Law team in Berlin on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

The Employment Legal Team navigates the complex world of local, regional and global employment laws to keep us compliant and ahead of the game. They tackle cross-border labor challenges, shape policies that fit local regulations, and support hiring and employee issues in Germany and several other jurisdictions. By partnering with HR and the leadership team, they help us dodge legal risks and keep our global team running smoothly. The Director role will have a chance to further develop the Employment Law function within the Delivery Hero group globally. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work in a leading multinational tech company that is shaping the future of work.
* You will lead the Employment Law function at Delivery Hero’s holding entity with more than 3,000 employees and over 70 operating subsidiaries globally. You will be managing a team of dedicated employment lawyers and work closely with the wider Legal, Governance and Assurance team in Berlin and in our regional and local offices;
* You will have a very broad area of responsibility within individual and collective labour law;
* In the Central team in Berlin you (and your team) will give advice to our People Operations and Global Mobility teams to ensure that our HR operations are in excellent compliance with German employment law;
* You will advise Delivery Hero’s management and senior stakeholders in connection with strategic HR initiatives, policies, restructuring projects and major M&A transactions;
* You and your team are further responsible for employment law related litigation which is usually handled in-house;
* You will be closely working with the SE works council and, together with a dedicated Employee Relations team, on matters relating to the newly elected German works council;
* On a global level, you will be responsible for the harmonization and quality improvement of employment law templates and processes as well as for the roll-out of global policies. With the support of local legal advisors, you and your team will be coordinating and managing global restructurings and other major projects;
* You will train stakeholders and managers on employment law related matters to promote a culture of compliance;
* Finally, you will have a strong focus on improving internal legal operations, driving efficiency and transformation of the employment law team.
Qualifications
* You are an employment lawyer fully qualified to practice law in Germany;
* You bring 8+ years of post-qualification work experience (in a reputable law firm firm or as in-house counsel) advising on German individual and collective employment law, social security and immigration law (experience working with tech companies is a great plus);
* You have experience advising on cross-border and international legal projects;
* You have experience in leading people and you are fully proficient in English (which is our working language at Delivery Hero);
* You are self-motivated, business minded and solution driven, you think out of the box and provide legal advice in an accurate yet pragmatic and timely manner;
* You have a passion for transformation, legal operations and building efficient processes within a team;
* You have great communication skills and are able to explain complex legal concepts to business stakeholders and to adapt to different cultural backgrounds;
* You are an absolute team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
* You are willing to work in a very fast-paced organization, handling multiple tasks and projects and liaising with multiple business and external stakeholders.
