Your mission
The Project Officer will support Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned dialogue efforts on multiple, interconnected tracks, including on the national and sub-national level, and with specific stakeholder groups.
Overview of the position:
Hours: 100%
Starting date: 1st of May 2025
Duration: limited contract until 31st of January 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on project funds
Location: Berlin, Germany (with frequent intercontinental travels)
Department & Reporting line: General Regional Peace Support Department, reporting to Head of Unit Ethiopia and Senior Project Manager
Your main tasks:
* Contribute to organizing, coordinating and implementing project activities in Ethiopia in close collaboration with the project team and partners in Addis Ababa.
* Conduct background research and provide the team with abstracts about conflict topics when needed.
* Contribute to the content-related preparation and subsequent organisation of workshops in Berlin and Addis Ababa.
* Close collaboration with Finance Managers and colleagues working on logistics regarding budget planning and project activities
* Contribute to project proposal development, donor reporting as well as administrative and financial procedures.
Your knowledge, experience & skills
* Master’s degree within a relevant field such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations or similar
* First relevant work experience, especially in event organisation, budget management, coordination of tasks, etc. in an international and intercultural setting
* Ideally, thematic knowledge on dialogue/ mediation processes and/or contextual expertise in Ethiopia/HoA
* Fluency in spoken and written English is essential
* Strong organisational as well as intercultural and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in high-level settings
* Curiosity, empathy, passion, commitment and perseverance
* Willingness to travel to the Horn of Africa Region
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications
