The Senior Import & Export Specialist will oversee and manage all aspects of our import, export, and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, optimizing logistics processes, and maintaining seamless communication between suppliers, customers, and logistics partners. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classifications, and supply chain management.
Requirements
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate import and export processes in collaboration with external service providers (e.g., freight forwarders, customs brokers).
* Provide guidance on import and export procedures, including customs classifications, tariffs, and product descriptions.
* Monitor warehouse stock levels to ensure the availability of materials and optimize inventory management.
* Cycle Counting: Perform necessary periodic cycle counts for timely inventory research and reconciliation
* Inventory Reconciliation: Perform research for inventory variances and ability to perform favourable / unfavourable adjustments
* Act as a key contact for customers, suppliers, and logistics partners on all import, export, and supply chain topics.
* Ensure adherence to national and international trade laws, including EU, German, and US export control regulations.
* Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to enhance efficiency in trade compliance and logistics operations.
* Oversee the preparation and verification of export documentation (e.g., customs declarations, shipping documents) and maintain accurate records.
* Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, customs clearance delays, and compliance violations.
* Provide training to internal teams on import/export regulations and best practices.
* Continuously contribute to improve established processes
* Perform other job-related duties and training as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, or a related field.
* 6+ years of experience in international trade, customs compliance, and logistics in a multinational environment.
* At least 2 years of experience in inventory control practices.
* Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classifications (TARIC, ECCN), and trade compliance frameworks.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics, SAP) as well as export/import software tools (e.g., ATLAS, ELAN-K2).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset.
* Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and lead process improvements.
