As General Manager at our Sonneborn location, you’ll oversee the site’s operations, ensure continuous improvement, and develop a dedicated team to new heights of standards within a global market leader for building materials.
Your Challenges
Based at our location in Sonneborn and reporting to the SVP of Windows Production, you will be responsible for the entire site, including production and warehouse facilities.
As part of both the national management team in Sonneborn and international management team in Windows production, you’ll collaborate with key colleagues across functions and countries.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Overall responsible for managing daily operations of the production facility and prioritise based on business needs and targets.
2. Leading and developing the local management team members in Sonneborn, through values-based leadership show leadership throughout the organisation, motivate employees and act as role model of VELUX values.
3. Developing and driving the local site strategy in alignment with the overall VELUX Operations and Supply strategy.
4. Drive continuous improvement, and operational quality in production.
5. Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) standards, quality protocols, and delivering on KPIs.
6. Managing cost control and process variation, ensuring efficiency through the execution of Lean tools and procedures.
7. Proactively develop local operations with support from global functions, aligned with VELUX Operations & Supply Strategy.
8. Attracting, developing, and retaining key talent, supported by global functions.
9. Representing the company in communications with external stakeholders, including unions, workers' councils, and local authorities.
10. Upholding the company’s legal compliance, including safety, environmental, employment, and financial regulations.
Your Qualifications
1. Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, ideally with a background in assembly and production.
2. Experience working for an international company in a large multi-site production setup is essential.
3. Comprehensive strategic, financial, and business understanding, with experience overseeing production in a major international company.
4. Mastery of Lean and 5S methodologies and their application in production environments.
5. Skilled in negotiation, especially with unions and workers' councils.
6. Fluent in English and German, both verbally and in writing.
7. Effective communication abilities coupled with the talent to encourage, influence, and establish robust partnerships.
