Join our dynamic team in Hamburg as a Data Scientist Energy Efficiency, where you will develop and maintain machine learning models, analyze ship operations data, and collaborate with shipboard personnel to enhance energy efficiency and hydrodynamic performance. Apply your skills to drive impactful improvements and ensure model accuracy through continuous monitoring. - Machine Learning Model Development & Ownership: Own the end-to-end process of building and maintaining machine learning models, including model design, training, evaluation, and iterative refinement - Model Performance Monitoring & Reliability: Ensure model accuracy and reliability through continuous monitoring, ideally leveraging automated systems, to proactively identify and address performance degradation - Data Analysis for Ship Operations: Conduct comprehensive data analysis related to efficient ship operation, providing actionable insights to ship and shore-based experts to drive improvements - Shipboard Support & Energy Efficiency: Collaborate with shipboard personnel to facilitate the effective utilization of energy efficiency tools and maximize their impact - Hydrodynamic Performance Analysis: Analyze the hydrodynamic performance of cruise ships, providing fleet-wide transparency and empowering subject matter experts to make informed decisions regarding necessary actions Your Profile - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Naval Architecture, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Physics is an advantage - At least 3 years of experience experience in both data analysis and machine learning model development, including testing and deployment - Strong programming skills in Python, with proficiency in common data science libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, polars, or NumPy. Experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus - Experience with MLOps practices and tools - Proficient in data visualization and storytelling - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills - Strong communication skills - Knowledge of Docker, AWS tech stack, CI/CD tools, and Grafana is desirable - Basic knowledge of physics and an interest in understanding physical relationships, particularly in the areas of energy and fluid dynamics - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment - Very good English language skills (English is our company language).
