The job
The UFZ Department Biodiversity and People is part of the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig. The center is located in Leipzig and is operated as a consortium of the University of Leipzig together with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ. It also receives support from the Max Planck Society, the Leibniz Association and the Free State of Saxony.
Your tasksQuantitative analyses, empirical work and conceptual synthesis in the fields of biodiversity and biodiversity restoration, citizen science and links to human health
Collaboration with the ongoing citizen science projects in the department, such as FLOW on freshwater monitoring and VielFalterGarten/Urban Nature Plans UNP+ on butterflies and urban ecology
Application of statistical approaches to data integration and systematic evaluation of heterogeneous biodiversity and health data
Active collaboration with natural history societies, museums, state agencies, citizen science projects and other stakeholders at local, national and international level

Experience in interdisciplinary research; a publication record in the fields of biodiversity or citizen science desirable

Experience in database management, scientific programming (R) and data visualization essential
