The Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy is a research institute of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften (MPG), which conducts interdisciplinary research into the many aspects of IT security and data protection. The newly formed and expanding institute will eventually include 18 research groups and employ approxi-mately 200 staff and guests. The institute cooperates with the ). Bochum is one of the world's leading research locations for cybersecurity and home to Europe's largest educational institution in this field as well as a lively start-up scene.
In the research group, we are now looking for two Student or research assistants (m/f/d) to support our research in the (“Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation”) intersectoral (academia, industry, non-profits) and interdisciplinary (CS, law, ethics) European consortium. Requirements for each position
2. One student/research assistant to help with our open-source Python software release focusing on the measurement of algorithmic fairness in compliance with data protection laws.You are enrolled at a German university or college.You have strong programming skills in Python.You are able to understand and create software documentation.You have a good command of written and spoken English (B2 level or higher).You are self-motivated and diligent.Not required but a plus: (i) experience with open-source software, or (ii) experience with software development in the industry, or (iii) knowledge of multi-party computation protocols/libraries or willingness to learn.
3. One student/research assistant to help with our user studies. You are enrolled at a German university or college.You’re able to analyze and visualize data in Python or R.You have a good command of written and spoken English (B2 level or higher).You are self-motivated and diligent.Not required but a plus: experience implementing user surveys, qualitative data analysis, statistical data analysis, or willingness to learn.

The positions are to be filled as soon as possible on an hourly basis with a weekly working time of 12-19,5 hours.
