Head of Group Accounting (PE Backed - CFO-1)

I am partnered with a high growing Insurance PE backed business looking for an experienced and hands-on Head of Group Accounting to join their team in Germany. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership position responsible for keeping a full set of financial accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and overseeing all accounting operations as the company embarks on an ambitious plans and strategy (exit).
As the Head of Group Accounting, you will work closely with the CFO and finance team on accounting functions in the German (HQ) office, supporting the business to consolidate and undergo multiple acquisitions as well as driving growth across international markets. You will be critical player in shaping and managing the financial processes as the business consolidates operations while working very closely with the other holding regions. You will also working on several M&A transactions alongside the CFO, M&A and Finance team around the EU and centralising all operations within the German office at group level.

Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and international standards (IFRS/German GAAP).
* Support the CFO in integrating acquisitions into the business, consolidating and centralizing accounting functions across different locations.
* Manage the preparation of financial statements, consolidation, and reporting.
* Work closely with the M&A, finance team and CFO to optimize processes, streamline workflows, and ensure timely and efficient financial reporting.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements in Germany and across relevant jurisdictions.
* Act as a key finance partner, contributing to the overall financial strategy and assisting with audit and due diligence activities.
Your Profile:
* A hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional with 5+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally within insurance, financial services, or a related sector.
* Current or prior experience in Consulting (1st/2nd Tier/Big 4 ideally)
* Strong knowledge of M&A integration and accounting centralization.
* Expertise in IFRS, German GAAP, and familiarity with PE-backed environments is highly desirable.
* Experience with LucaNet would be preferred.
* Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Fluent in German and English.
