We are currently looking for a highly qualified and dynamic individual to take on the role of Senior General Manager - Operations & Business Development Germany and our subsidiaries in CEE.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop our business in the region, driving growth and ensuring success. As the Senior General Manager, you will have a leadership role and be responsible for supervising a highly skilled team of leaders in both areas, sales and operations. You will oversee operations at 24 different locations, which collectively employ more than 1200 colleagues. Furthermore, you will be in charge of leading operational excellence projects and business development efforts and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction in the EMEA region overall.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Developing and implementing a robust business strategy that aligns with both local and regional objectives and targets.
2. Leading and motivating a diverse team, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve operational excellence and consistently deliver exceptional customer service.
3. Efficient management and optimization of operational resources, including budget management, forecasting, and effective cost control measures.
4. Driving business development initiatives with a keen focus on identifying new market opportunities and establishing potential partnerships.
5. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and regulatory authorities.
6. Ensuring compliance with all relevant local regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
7. Monitoring and analyzing market trends and competitor activities to identify potential business opportunities and risks.
8. Effectively coordinating and managing the Sales, Product, and Operational functions of the company.
9. Overseeing and guiding teams in achieving significant business growth and maintaining strong relationships with key clients.
10. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization.
11. Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-country teams to drive operational efficiency and process improvement.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in a senior management role within the logistics industry, with a track record of driving business growth and operational excellence, including P&L responsibility.
2. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate decentralized teams within Germany.
3. Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking, with a focus on achieving ambitious results.
4. 10+ years of experience in the logistics or transportation industry, with solid knowledge of the global air- and sea-freight business.
5. Strong financial and KPI mindset, with the ability to manage budgets and analyze financial and operational data.
6. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
7. Excellent communication and presentation skills in both German and English.
8. Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
9. Knowledge of local (German) regulations and industry standards.
10. Fluency in German and English is required.
11. Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
12. On-site presence on 3 out of 5 working days is preferred.
