Description Title: Customs Import / Export Associate Germany (m/f/d) Job Purpose: This role of the Customs Import / Export Associate assists the Customs Import / Export Manager in the daily handling of import and export processes. This role prepares and manages customs documents, communicates with freight forwarders and customs authorities, and ensures proper handling of shipments. The Associate also monitors and updates customs and shipping databases, resolves customs issues and inquiries, and participates in training and development programs to enhance knowledge in customs and international trade. Main Duties and Responsibilities: File operationally customs declaration based on the requirements of our business and of our clients. Assist the Customs Import / Export Manager in the daily handling of import and export processes. Prepare and manage the required customs documents including document checks in advance to avoid potential delays during customs clearances within Germany. Communicate with freight forwarders, customs authorities, and other relevant entities to ensure proper handling of shipments. Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure smooth handling of customs formalities. Monitor and update customs and shipping databases for shipment status, duties & taxes. Assist in resolving customs issues and inquiries. Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations and policies. Assist in preparing reports and analyses for senior management. Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge in customs and international trade. Identify and implement improvements in customs processes. Develop and maintain relationships with customs authorities and other relevant organizations. Requirements: Willingness to work in shifts including weekend shifts based on required customs clearance times. At least 2-3 years of experience in customs brokerage and international trade In-depth knowledge of international customs regulations and procedures. Strong organizational and communication skills. Experience in managing customs documentation and processes. Fluent in German and English. Experience with customs software and systems (Cargowise & Scope). Experience with imports / exports / transit Customs entries for air and ground transportation. Familiar with HS Code classifications for import and export shipments on all products. Experience in customs clearance with BTM / AMG / veterinary regulated products. Experience in communication with customs authorities. Good problem-solving skills and capacity to prioritize.
