A Snapshot of Your Day
You will be a part of the Operations & Maintenance team at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station, which is an HVDC Interconnector capable of transferring 2250MW of power between Scotland and North Wales.
You will provide customer support through planned and reactive maintenance activities on customer’s assets as per our contractual requirements. Planning and carrying work out efficiently and safely and that all records are kept up to date. Adhering to SHEQ and Siemens Energy processes and procedures continuously.
This is a challenging position and would suit applicants with a solid electrical engineering background, who are prepared to work in a flexible working environment.

4. 37 hour working week. Mon – Thur 08:00 – 16:30, Fri 08:00 – 13:00
5. After an appropriate period of training and qualifications you will also provide emergency call out response as part of the maintenance team (part of a rotating Standby Rota for 1 site with substantial financial benefits, 1 week in 4 format)

How You’ll Make an Impact
10. Ensure compliance with Work Specifications, Local Management Instructions, statutory Requirements and Health & Safety policies
11. Conduct safety monitoring of both Siemens Energy and contractor’s staff as the need arises
12. Plan, develop and implement maintenance routines for all plant and equipment within scope of the contract
13. Assist in the development of existing and new processes to improve the quality of service provided to the customer
14. Ensure a safe working environment is provided at all times, and acquire or develop any vital documentation such as, Risk Assessments and Method Statements
15. Plan day to day work, anticipate problems and accomplish tasks to high standards of quality and time
16. Take part in a 24/7 365 day per year standby rota and provide flexible support whenever possible to support others who are on call (if required)
17. Undertake all relevant training and practical experience as required under other customers/sites for their high voltage safety rules and maintain that authorization.
18. Investigate and resolve faults and prepare, reporting where required to align with QA and customers’ requirements.
19. Interpret test and inspection reports and initiate appropriate action
20. Ensure that all maintenance documentation is completed and uploaded on Maintenance Management System as specified in O&M procedures
21. Ensure all work is carried out to a satisfactory quality and technical standard
22. Complete weekly time sheet for supervising workload
23. Carry out other duties within your competence as directed by the appropriate supervisor
24. Provide a technical, engineering and advisory service to other staff in areas where you have particular expertise or experience
25. Dedication to Siemens Energy initiatives including excellent call handling and voice mail skills
26. Maintenance management and resource planning and provision
27. Safe disposal of equipment in line with company and customer guidelines
28. Asset Management Planning – apply life costing principles, produce business case for assets
29. Implementing Asset Management Plans – take ownership for assets, control operations, maintain / optimize assets
30. Risk Management and Performance Improvement – assess and manage risks, assure quality of AM processes, monitor and review progress and performance, learn from incidents
31. Asset Knowledge Management - define asset requirements, specify, select and integrate AM information systems
32. Liaise with stakeholders on asset related topics – make appropriate AM information available for decision making
33. Comply with asset policies in regards to health, safety, environment and security provisions
What You Bring
34. Preferably HNC/HND qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and ideally have experience within a maintenance environment on industrial sites or electrical substations.
35. A good understanding of electrical systems and practical experience working on electrical and mechanical installations.
36. Be capable of working under your own initiative and able to work to tight timescales.
37. IT Literacy (MS Office including MS Project etc.)
38. Good communication & interpersonal skills
39. Excellent organisational skills
40. Experience with successful team working abilities
41. Strong understanding of H & S legislation and Risk Management Processes
