The Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe is a globally recognized center of excellence in innovation research. The Joint Innovation Hub is a very recently established research division at Fraunhofer ISI that reports directly to the director of the institute. It addresses interdisciplinary issues in the area of ‘systemic innovation and technology management’. Its mission is to make the world a better place to live in by using a scientifically systematic approach to anticipate and analyze innovative developments at an early stage and to design and implement them sustainably together with its partners.
The aim of the Joint Innovation Hub is to make companies and institutions future-proof in order to meet the challenges of their changing environment. This involves supporting clients throughout the entire process of transforming to a digital and sustainable future – from developing new solutions to monitoring their impact. By applying a tailored range of methods, which is constantly being developed, it connects them with other players in the innovation ecosystem.
What you will do
* You are part of the Fraunhofer ISI's ‘Joint Innovation Hub’ at the newly established branch office in Heilbronn, where you work closely together with colleagues. You will work on scientific and application-oriented IT projects that promote a sustainable future for clients from business, politics and civil society, as well as other stakeholders.
* You will design, program and maintain digital tools and dashboards for innovative technologies such as ‘artificial intelligence’ or the ‘metaverse’, which automatically read and process information from different online sources in real time.
* You will design, program and maintain digital exchange platforms and marketplaces with graphical interfaces on sustainability topics.
* You will create and test prototypical solutions for proof-of-concepts addressing various challenges faced by companies.
* As part of your work, you will have the opportunity to establish and develop thematic and methodological areas of expertise.
What you bring to the table
* You have a degree in the field of computer science, web development or a comparable qualification and are proficient in modern front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
* You have a good eye for design and user-friendliness (UX/UI) and can implement your creativity in appealing and functional user interfaces.
* You have a comprehensive understanding of web applications or databases, among other things. You are also interested in and knowledgeable about the structure and application of various digitization technologies such as “artificial intelligence” and the “metaverse”.
* You use your excellent analytical skills to link digital technologies with practical challenges. You also enjoy thinking outside the box, taking an interest in new topics and driving them forward. You are also willing to try out and advance new approaches.
* Actively involving end users is a matter of course for you.
* Experience in integrating front-end solutions into back-end services and a basic understanding of API concepts (e.g. REST or GraphQL) are essential.
* You have a strong understanding of agile working methods (Scrum, Kanban) and are experienced in working with multidisciplinary teams.
* Your skill set includes very good German language skills.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. The position is initially limited to 3 years. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
