Your Tasks
1. scientific research tasks (50 %): independent research in the field of social anthropology participation in third-party funding applications of the department conception of own applications for third-party funding
2. teaching tasks amounting to 4 teaching hours a week during the semester (20 %): assuming teaching duties in social anthropology, especially on topics such as labor, market, migration, etc., including advising, supervising and examining students
3. coordination of research activities in the Social Anthropology Working Group, including development of a strategy for communicating research activities and results to a broader public and their implementation (20 %)
4. collaboration in academic self-administration (10 %): organizational and administrative tasks committee work

Your Profile We expect
17. completed scientific university degree (e. g. diploma or master's degree) in anthropology, sociology or a related subject
18. doctorate in anthropology, sociology or a related subject
19. experience with ethnographic research on market transformations in Vietnam or China, in particular on land restructuring, labor mobility, financialization or the relationship between these topics
20. ability to design and conduct own research projects and prepare third-party funding applications
21. ability to write and publish academic papers in English
22. independent, self-reliant and committed way of working
23. ability to work in a team as well as strong organizational and coordination skills, in the organization of academic events such as lecture series or workshops
Preferred experience and skills
24. teaching experience in the field of sociology of transnationalization and social anthropology, at least 1 year after successfully completing a doctorate
25. proficiency in either Chinese or Vietnamese language
26. experience with public communication
27. basic knowledge of German for daily communication at the university
