World-leading technologies don’t make it into a BMW until they’ve undergone one of the most challenging journeys imaginable. It takes dynamic teams with outstanding technical skills to take them from the drawing board to the road. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.
We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied working student occupation in the area of software engineering (Autonomous driving/Map services). Our team consists of C++ onboard software engineers and develops highly accurate map and localization algorithms as the basis for the next generation of autonomous driving functions. We are responsible for the entire chain of effects, from the highly accurate provision of maps in the vehicle to the fusion with sensor information in the vehicle for highly accurate position determination.
We are looking for a working student with expertise in two different areas. Experience in both areas is an advantage - but even if you have solid expertise in one of the areas, we should get to know each other.

* We’d like to enhance our Python and web-based tooling that has a direct impact in our daily workflow. Analysis of real fleet test data is essential to figure out potential improvements of our codebase. The tooling shall significantly improve the speed of investigating this data by automating the visualization of certain aspects in our tech stack. Our path prediction module is the focus of this work. A tool shall be developed that is able interact with an internal widely used tool for visualization of digital road maps (Argos). In addition, the tooling is used and implemented to inspect and filter relevant path prediction data.
* We need you to expand our AI-based tools and projects. We work on transformer-based AI models and underlying tools to generate the ground truth for these models. Furthermore, we utilize existing Large Language Models (LLMs) to boost our team’s development performance and software quality for Autonomous Driving (AD) software. In this way, we increase the quality and security of our software to a maximum level.
