Your role Project: Experimental and numerical assessment of deep foundations under combined loading condition. The successful PhD candidate will be an integral member of the Computational Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (COMPSOIL) research group led by Prof. Arash Lavasan. The candidate will focus on the assessment of the thermo hydromechanical behaviour of geomaterials in the context of the resilient base design of geo structures under the impact of climate change actions. The project includes characterisation of the THM material behaviour and performing large scaled laboratory tests to study the impact of climate aspects on the soil structure interactions. In this position the following tasks are defined: Contributing to the design and development of testing equipment Set up and calibration of the sensors Conducting laboratory tests and assessment of the results Performing complementary numerical modelling Developing research ideas and mentoring students Contributing to teaching and educational activities Disseminating results through scientific publications Presenting results in the well known international conferences and workshops Your profile Master''s degree in Civil Geotechnical Engineering or a related field Proven experience with laboratory testing Good understanding of experimental device design and development Strong background in the THM coupled behaviour of soils Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment Excellent written and oral communication English skills (German, French, or Luxembourgish are plus) Interest in mentoring and fostering team development We offer Multilingual and international character.
