Job description Reset Tech seeks to appoint an experienced practitioner with a background in politics that can design and manage research products focused on digital markets that shape and inform public communications and policy planning in Europe. Leading an internal team of research analysts (as well as a variety of technical vendors), the Director will identify opportunities for collaboration with electoral stakeholders, offering them detailed insights into the online environment and relevant digital threats, highlighting key risks and actionable data. This is both a political and research role, sitting at the intersection of technology and democratic outcomes. While this role will prioritise engagement in EU member states, the work will involve some projects in non-EU geographies (excluding the US). Position responsibilities Lead political research strategy Building on Reset Tech’s existing infrastructure, set out a political research strategy focused on threat intelligence and online insights and informed by a deep understanding of political events, processes, campaigns and communications (heavy focus on EU) Respond to political crises and unplanned events, being agile and innovative while also delivering on the research strategy Work with allies in the field to share learnings, ideas and methodologies Stay abreast of developments across the political spectrum, exploring positions and tactics of a range of actors. Oversee and manage a suite of political research products Work with a team of technical research analysts to understand and build on our existing pipeline of research products, tailoring them for external stakeholders Be, or quickly become, familiar with a range of technical research tools and methodologies and integrate insights from Reset’s technical experts Innovate on product design and development, ensuring we deliver the highest quality research products possible Liaise with political stakeholders in key jurisdictions Maintain a deep understanding of and networks in European politics and political parties - reputation as a trusted expert and operator Build and maintain strong relationships with key actors in European politics across multiple member states Represent Reset Tech with key political stakeholders in relevant countries, with an initial focus on EU member states Work with partners to understand relevant information gaps or priorities, demonstrating the value of deeper digital insights Internal leadership and advice Be seen as a visible, inspiring leader within Reset Tech Advise senior leadership on political strategy Your profile 10 years of experience in geopolitics and political strategy, with a particular understanding of European politics Strong networks with political stakeholders - parties and leadership Exceptional communication skills (ideally multilingual). Fluency in English is essential, plus at least one other language (ideally German, French or Spanish). Experience overseeing and delivering high quality written products, informed by deep political analysis Awareness of technical research tools such as Meltwater and Brandwatch and ability to quickly learn more about digital infrastructures Experience leading a small, remote team - bringing them with you and inspiring high quality work Comfortable working in a fast moving environment with high levels of ambiguity Calculated approach to risk, understanding the risks associated with the nature of this work Commitment to democratic values and processes About us Our mission is to support a “reset” of the relationship between media and democracy in the digital age to ensure that publics are more informed and less divided.
