This position can be is homeoffice based in Europe.
Purpose of Role:
The Distribution Manager is responsible for refining strategy for growth via the distribution channel in Europe. The role will also be responsible for managing the company's sales through our network of distribution partners. This position will establish annual sales growth and activity plans, drive their execution, manage the resources required for our distribution partners to be successful, and review distribution partner performance. The successful individual will work closely with the Global Head of Distribution to implement management best practices and streamline communication from the Business Unit Sales Directors to execute Synthomer’s strategy and drive profitable growth.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Lead day to day sales activities for responsible distributors, including pricing, setting growth targets, growing opportunity pipeline and ensuring our distributors meet budget targets. Increase business growth and profitability at all European distributors
2. Joint visits with distributors to end customers where necessary should be done to support business growth
3. Attendance at relevant trade shows, conferences and seminars representing both Synthomer and Distribution Partners
4. Quarterly review sessions with each responsible distributor
5. Ensure KPIs are set for all distributors and are tracked against performance. Identify any gaps with European distribution network against KPIs and implement growth plan
6. Follow Synthomer’s distribution governance and best practices and ensure all distributors are performing well against these
7. Streamline distribution network and support with interviewing new distribution candidates and ensuring all current distributors are performing to our rating criteria.
8. Prepare monthly report to show performance back to the Coatings and Construction Solutions business unit
9. Ensure up to date information in CRM database for all European distributors, including writing of visit reports, management of opportunity pipeline and data is relevant
10. Work with Marketing and product management to develop and launch desired marketing campaigns and promotions of new and existing products
Education, competencies and skills:
11. Bachelor's degree in Technical or Business Discipline in Chemicals Industry
12. 10+ years of experience within the Specialty Chemicals space, with experience managing distribution channels
13. Proven experience managing accounts to grow business profitability
14. Proven success in driving growth directly or through distribution network.
15. Demonstrated success in creating and executing a structured growth plan, identifying clear objectives and resources needed for success.
16. Proven ability to marshal resources to support customers/distributors.
17. Strong business/financial acumen, and advanced negotiation skills.
18. Must have no travel limitations and be able to work from a home office.
19. Fluent in English
20. Experience in CASE industries.
21. Experience with SAP Business Warehouse and/or SAP CRM.
22. Experience with forecasting databases
23. Strong computer skills (MS Office, business analytics software, CRM software).
