Associate Medical Director (m/f/d)
We are exclusively supporting an innovative U.S. biopharmaceutical company in their search for an Associate Medical Director (m/f/d) to help build and shape the future of their operations in Germany and the DACH region. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing team dedicated to developing groundbreaking treatments for cardiovascular diseases.
Reporting to the Senior Medical Director DACH, the Associate Medical Director (m/f/d) will take on a dual role that is both strategic and customer-facing. This position includes responsibility for leading the medical field team in the rollout, implementation, and execution of the medical launch strategy for the company’s products in Germany.
Location: Munich (remote/hybrid flexibility)
Your Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a subject matter expert in HCM and its management in Germany, including the drug's active substance and competitors.
* Collaborate with the Senior Medical Director DACH to develop and execute the country medical affairs plan, aligning with corporate strategies.
* Lead field medical operations, including KOL/HCP engagement and support for clinical trials.
* Drive field medical launch planning for a novel therapy in a rare cardiac condition.
* Train the MSL team on emerging data and incorporate it into communication plans.
* Foster collaboration between field-based teams during the company’s transition to a commercial organization.
* Manage, mentor, and motivate the MSL team to achieve KPIs.
* Communicate goals and support team efforts through collaboration and engagement.
* Guide MSLs in expert cardiologist relationships and scientific idea development, including investigator-initiated studies.
* Establish and oversee a CRM system in Germany in coordination with regional and global teams.
* Ensure all MSL activities comply with corporate and healthcare guidelines.
* Collect field insights, enhance MSL knowledge, and facilitate competitive intelligence and disease-state training.
Your Skills & Experiences:
* Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD).
* 10+ years in Medical Affairs roles (Manager to Director level) in pharma/biotech.
* Cardiology or related specialty experience preferred.
* Expertise in specialty care launches is a strong advantage.
* Proven leadership in managing field-based medical teams or MSLs.
* Deep understanding of Germany's healthcare and regulatory landscape.
* Excellent German and English communication skills for scientific audiences.
* Strong KOL engagement, medical strategy, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* High ethical standards and compliance knowledge in medical affairs.
* Independent, accountable, and adaptable to remote and dynamic environments.
* Ability to prioritize effectively and manage time efficiently.
* Willingness to travel nationally, with occasional EU/global travel as needed.
