Investment portfolio team (Chief Investment Office “CIO”), a unit of the Chief Investment Office Global Treasury, plays a critical role in managing the bank’s ~$100 billion investment portfolio in order to generate income and meet State Street’s liquidity and collateral needs pursuant to its balance sheet strategy.
The global investment portfolio team is comprised of portfolio managers and credit personnel across the U.S., Europe, India and Australia.
The candidate will be part of the portfolio management team responsible for developing the investment portfolio strategy and allocation of investments across multiple asset classes and currencies.
This is a visible role and the individual is expected to collaborate effectively within the team and across organizational functions including Finance, Treasury, Risk, and IT.
Purpose of the Role:
Portfolio Managers are members of the CIO Portfolio Management Team which is organized by 3 broad asset sectors:
1. Global Rates and Asset Allocation
2. MBS/ACMBS
3. Global Credit
The portfolio manager will join the Global Rates team to build upon the vision to continue the investment strategy and portfolio positioning around key risks, such as duration, spread, liquidity, and currencies.
The role will own the primary strategy of managing the rates investment portfolio in the European subsidiary State Street International bank in the context of the global portfolio. Focus will be on implementing rates strategy for the local Euro/USD book with a secondary function of contributing to the wider global investment strategy.
What you will be responsible for:
Portfolio Managers are responsible for strategy, sector allocation and security selection in their area of responsibility. This role includes market facing and execution.
Main responsibilities include:
1. Develop a relative value outlook on global rates/SSA sectors and derive market insight including a forward-looking view within responsible sectors to guide the investment process.
2. Trade on behalf of the European investment portfolio in global rates/SSA markets with a focus on EUR and USD.
3. Deep understanding of macroeconomics and market data with the ability to timely translate these insights to investment views in global rates space.
4. Ensure investments are in line with volumes and metrics specified within the sector’s investment strategy.
5. Communicate global rates strategy and macro-economic development to the broader investment teams.
6. Prepare reports on strategy, market developments, and portfolio risk exposures to communicate with Senior management and other stakeholders.
7. Work with various stakeholders such as ALM, risk, credit research and various functions within the bank.
8. Work with local and global leadership to meet the requirements of bank.
9. Excellent analytical skills and solution orientated approach.
10. Team players who must show the willingness to work with global teams across time zones.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
1. BSc from a quantitative discipline, economics or finance degree.
2. At least 5-10 years relevant experience with strong excel skills and analytical abilities.
3. Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
4. Exposure to AUD and GBP markets is a bonus.
5. Working experience of Python, R or similar is advantage.
6. Previous relevant investment experience.
