Strategic Risk Solutions Inc (SRS), a fast-growing privately-owned insurance services company, is looking for an Accountant II to provide superb finance support to colleagues in Barbados.
SRS provides consulting, accounting, and management services to insurance companies, predominantly those licensed as captive insurance companies, in the US, Barbados, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Europe with a staff of 400+ employees and expects to continue to grow and expand domestically and abroad.
Position Description and Requirements We require an ambitious individual with the ability to provide support to the finance department in relation to SRS’ management of a portfolio of international insurance companies.
The responsibilities will include: Working with the client Team Leader and Account Manager in delivering high quality financial and regulatory reports.
Preparing and maintaining accounting records and work papers.
Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries and financial statements for clients.
Preparation of financial statements in accordance with the appropriate GAAP.
Preparation and filing of quarterly returns at the Financial Services Commission.
Facilitating the accurate and timely preparation of other regulatory filings.
Co-ordination of the statutory yearend audit on behalf of clients.
Preparation for the Board of Director and Annual meetings of clients, including the preparation of specific board meeting material.
Handling of verbal and written client communications (where applicable).
Any other finance related task that may be required from time to time.
Requirements and Skills: The candidate should possess the following attributes: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, or a Professional Accounting Designation from an accredited association.
1. 3+ years training and experience in financial accounting in a professional environment (practical experience of insurance accounting would be an asset).
Detail-oriented with superb organizational skills and comfortable with routinely shifting demands.
Self-motivation with the ability to work effectively as part of a team or on individually assigned tasks in a fast-paced environment where superior time management and prioritization skills are essential.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to build lasting relationships with all levels of employees and be able to work in a team; and Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
