The Federal Statistical Office is the professionally independent and neutral official data service provider in Germany.
Group C1 "IT Methods and Governance" is responsible for the corporate and statistical production-related business architecture as well as data, metadata and operational quality management. It is also responsible for digital tools and the testing of software options, artificial intelligence, machine learning and imputation processes as well as information security. The group is responsible for topics such as digitalization, standardization and automation. A central focus is the use of machine learning/artificial intelligence in official statistics. In this way, the group contributes to the modern development of official statistics.
You will manage around 60 employees at the Wiesbaden and Bonn locations. You will be based in Wiesbaden; flexibility with regard to daily deployment at the Bonn location is expected.
Your tasks are:
* Further development of enterprise architecture management with a focus on statistics production-related business processes
* Ensuring the statistical substance of the methodology used, particularly in the areas of metadata, machine learning and imputation
* Further development of information security management
* Targeted management, coordination, control and continuous further development of the group
* Advising the department and office management with technical expertise within the scope of the main tasks outlined
* Representing the Group within the company and vis-à-vis national and international stakeholders from politics, business and science
* Managing, promoting and developing employees, taking gender equality aspects into account
* Goal-oriented and forward-looking planning and management of the use of resources
* Identification, management and resolution of conflicting objectives and risks
We expect a committed and responsible leader with the following personal and professional expertise:
* Several years of experience in the management of units and/or other organizational units above subject areas or in the management of project groups or larger specialist working groups and interdisciplinary work
* Very good understanding of statistical production and its concept of quality
* Experience in the scientific examination of mathematical-statistical topics
* Knowledge of the basic principles of information security and experience in implementing the UP Bund
* High customer and service orientation, resource-oriented mindset as well as goal-oriented and effective change and risk management
* Experience in cooperation and project work with other international statistical offices and organizations
* Great commitment, high resilience as well as good self-management and strong negotiation skills
* Ability to lead, motivate and manage employees - even at a distance
* Good presentation and communication skills to explain complex issues to target groups
* Very good comprehensive knowledge of administrative processes in a higher federal authority as well as the framework conditions and cooperation in the federal system
* Good judgment, decision-making and persuasive skills
* Cultural openness and empathy, gender competence
* Willingness to travel on business
Eligible to apply are:
* Persons who have completed a Master's degree or an equivalent degree (e.g. Magister, Dipl.-Univ.) in the STEM field (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) or
* civil servants who have been promoted to the higher civil service as part of the training or practical promotion process in accordance with § 33a, 33b BLV (old version) and
* hold at least one post in grade A 14 BBesO or are in a comparable pay scale classification (if employed in the public sector)
