JOB PURPOSE
For our office in Hamburg, we are looking for a Head of Project Management to lead, develop, and drive the strategic direction of our Project Management discipline. As an experienced leader, you will be responsible for setting standards, optimizing processes, and ensuring the successful execution of digital projects at scale. You will foster a high-performing team culture, enabling our project managers to deliver excellence while balancing efficiency, quality, and innovation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Leadership: Define and implement the strategic vision for the Project Management function, ensuring alignment with business goals, market trends, and client needs.
2. Operational Excellence: Continuously improve and innovate project management methodologies, processes, and best practices to drive efficiency, scalability, and quality across all projects.
3. Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Project Management team, ensuring professional growth and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders, including clients, internal teams, and leadership, to ensure alignment on project goals, priorities, and challenges.
5. Process Optimization: Implement and refine project governance frameworks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
6. Resource & Capacity Planning: Oversee project staffing and resource allocation to ensure optimal workload distribution and capability alignment within the team.
7. Innovation & Change Management: Identify industry trends, emerging technologies, and new ways of working, translating them into strategic improvements and innovative project approaches.
8. Client Engagement & Business Growth: Support business development efforts by providing strategic input on pitches, proposals, and client discussions, ensuring realistic scoping and high-quality project execution.
9. Risk Management: Anticipate, mitigate, and resolve risks proactively, ensuring that project delivery remains on track and client expectations are met or exceeded.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
10. Proven leadership experience in project management within a digital agency, consultancy, or similar environment.
11. Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate business objectives into operational improvements and team development.
12. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
13. Expertise in both agile and waterfall project management methodologies, with the ability to adapt approaches based on project needs.
14. Deep understanding of eCommerce, web development, and digital experience platforms.
15. Experience managing large-scale digital projects, including complex multi-stakeholder environments.
16. Strong communication, persuasion, and stakeholder management skills at all levels.
17. Ability to drive innovation, optimize processes, and implement best practices effectively.
18. Fluent in German and English (C1 proficiency required).
