What we’re looking for:
A Senior Marine Surveyor in Charge who provides day-to-day management of a team to deliver an effective technical and commercial service through a department/office and to assess complex problems for external and internal clients to determine a range of alternative solutions. Someone who can manage a team within the area of Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
As an international organization, you will have good proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work. The German language skills will be an advantage.
This role requires work authorization for the respective country (Germany).

The role:
* Conducting and manage relevant activities, providing advice and alternative solutions for service delivery within areas of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements within defined Marine KPI’s.
* To ensure all deliverables produced by the office meet internal and external requirements; to budget, time, and quality, taking the responsibility to review and monitor work activity.
* Discuss and present the deliverable with internal/external clients up to the senior level and be able to suggest solutions where necessary.
* Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
* To assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client agreeing on the most appropriate fee and cost structure up to the authorization level.
* Mentoring and coaching employees, as appropriate, to ensure effective knowledge transfer and application.
* To make recommendations based on internal/external client feedback to assist in internal and external process improvement and service delivery and to help build the business by working alongside the commercial team.
* Lead surveys, attend clients on specific high-risk activities within their discipline and experience/knowledge.
* To lead, manage and develop a team of Lead, Senior Surveyors, and Surveyors to maintain an effective and competitive service. This includes recruitment, performance management, training/development, and work allocation.
What you bring:
* A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering (B.Eng./B.Sc./M.Eng./M.Sc. or equivalent) or physical science (minimum of three years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
* Excellent communication and reporting skills in German would be advantageous.
* Living in area near to Rhine-Ruhr Area, Germany.
* Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
* Strong cooperation and communication skills, able to engage with people.
* Solution-oriented approach, proactive.
