Edge Systems Administrator Role purpose As an Edge Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for standardizing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing our edge servers and storage systems. Your role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation, security, and performance of our server hardware and virtualization platforms, including cloud and storage infrastructure. You will act as an authority in virtualization, striving for standard solutions to improve our IT operations. Key responsibilities Server Management Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers. Monitor performance, solve issues, and perform hardware maintenance. Handle servers remotely and lead all aspects of lifecycle activities, including migrations and optimization. Virtualization Create and run virtual machines and resource allocation. Perform backups and recovery operations for virtual environments. Operate and improve global infrastructure using VMware, Windows, Linux, Cloud, and hardware vendors. Security and Compliance Implement and make sure security best practices for server and storage systems. Regularly update and patch systems, ensuring compliance with standards. Monitor IT infrastructure, remediate vulnerabilities, and identify insecure configurations. Documentation and Reporting Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and changes. Prepare reports on system performance and maintenance activities. Continuously update and enhance operating procedures. Support and Collaboration Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, on-call duties, and maintenance. Fulfil and automate service requests. Support projects within and beyond the Compute & Cloud Team with your expertise. Skills Professional Experience Demonstrated ability in server and storage administration Technical Expertise Demonstrable experience with server hardware, hyper-converged infrastructure, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and storage solutions. Experience in standardization and optimizations projects including cloud. Proficient in server hardware troubleshooting and maintenance. Solid knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, DAS) and best practices. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Automation skills for infrastructure and operating system operations. Knowledge of cloud services like Azure VMware Solution or others. Certifications and Additional Skills ITIL Certification (highly desirable) VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar certifications are preferred. Additional certifications in storage technologies (e.g., Dell, HP) or networking are a plus.
