Description Title: (Senior) Customs Import / Export Manager Germany (m/f/d) Job Purpose: Together with the second (Senior) Customs Import / Export Manager is this role leading Marken Customs operations in Germany for all related import and export shipments and further operational aspects. The Customs Import / Export Manager Germany will cover any absences’ of the (Senior) Customs Import / Export Manager Germany and vice versa. The (Senior) Customs Import / Export Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all customs-related activities within the organization and for all our clients. Both roles ensure compliance with international trade regulations, optimizing customs processes, and reduce costs. The (Senior) Manager develops and implements customs strategies, manages the approval process for customs activities, and applies for and maintains the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status. Additionally, this role includes training and supporting the customs team, collaborating with authorities, internal and external partners and clients for sure. Both roles are reporting on the performance of the customs department to the Director EMEA Customs and the senior management of Marken. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Leading and supervising all import and export activities for Marken and all our customers to ensure compliance with international and internal company regulations. File operationally customs declarations based on the requirements of our business and our customers. Developing and implementing strategies to optimize customs processes and reduce costs. Implementing and managing a compliant and robust power of attorney process authorized to represent Marken's customers as a customs representative. Managing documentation and communication with customs authorities and other relevant entities. Collaborating with internal departments, external partners and customers to ensure smooth handling of customs formalities. Managing the process of application and maintaining of different customs authorizations for customs-related activities such as customs bonded warehousing, temporary storage, deferment accounts, and others. Applying for and maintaining the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status. Monitoring compliance with trade agreements and international regulations. Building and maintaining relationships with customs authorities and other relevant authorities. Identifying and implementing best practices and SOPs in the customs area for Marken and their customers. Training and supporting the customs team to improve their expertise and efficiency. Analyzing and reporting on the performance of the customs department to the Director EMEA Customs and the senior management of Marken. Leading potential customs authority audits. Requirements: Willingness to work in shifts including weekend shifts based on required customs clearance times. Bachelor's degree in laws, logistics, business administration, or any other related field. At least 6 years of experience in customs and international trade, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position. In-depth knowledge of international customs regulations and procedures. Strong leadership and communication skills. Experience in developing and implementing customs strategies. Fluent in German and English. Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. Experience with customs software and systems (Cargowise & Scope). Experience with imports / exports / transit Customs entries for air and ground transportation. Familiar with HS Code classifications for import and export shipments on all products. Experience in customs clearance with BTM / AMG / veterinary regulated products. Experience in managing customs permits & authorizations from customs authorities. Ability to use own initiative to research and grow professionally, gain extra industry knowledge. Strong business acumen, analytical skills, good judgment, and the proven ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms at all organizational levels. Excellent problem-solving skills and capacity to prioritize. Able to work independently and in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook.
