Underwriter Downstream / Energy\n(m/f/d)*\n \nStandort\nMünchen, Deutschland\n \n \n \nMunich Re's Natural Resources Fac team continues to strengthen its footprint in the worldwide energy industry by enabling and partnering with our clients to implement the energy transition. For this, an opportunity has emerged for an underwriter in our Munich office. With a responsibility for worldwide clients active in the onshore downstream energy oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical business, this role will have an emphasis on profitable underwriting of existing business and risk assessment of developing technologies such as hydrogen production or other clean tech solutions.\nBe part of the successful collaboration between our offices in the international organisation and the head office in Munich, driving the professional underwriting of facultative reinsurance business.\nYour job\nProfitable underwriting of global facultative onshore Energy business in accordance with our strategy (including ESG aspects) and within designated underwriting authority:\nAnalysing risk inspections \nPricing and acceptance of large and complex energy risks \nControlling accumulation risks including natural hazards \nAssuring compliance with group-wide guidelines\nConducting negotiations with cedents and reinsurance brokers \nDeveloping, maintaining, and expanding client and broker relationships\nAssisting the implementation of portfolio analysis and compiling statistics and reports \nContributing to an inspiring team environment\nYour profile\nUniversity degree, preferably in engineering or applied science-related discipline, or a recognised professional qualification in insurance\nPractical experience as an engineer or ideally experience as an underwriter in direct and/or facultative insurance \nCompetencies in the analysis of wordings/contracts.
Basic knowledge of risk assessment and pricing methods would be a plus. \nAbility to quickly learn other occupancies (e.g. Mining) and follow-up on new or developing technologies \nStrong negotiation skills and experience negotiating terms and conditions with clients and brokers\nStrongly pronounced sales orientation with the ability to build sustainable relationships with clients and brokers\nHigh degree of responsibility, motivation, decisiveness and self-employment\nExcellent social skills, ability to coordinate and work with an international team\nAnalytical skills, capability to be innovative and creative\nSolution-oriented with a focused, proactive, and efficient work style \nFluent business English is essential\nWillingness to travel\nAbout us\nAs the world's leading reinsurance company with more than 11,000 employees at over 50 locations, Munich Re introduces a paradigm shift in the way you think about insurance.
