EHS Director - Construction Frankfurt or Geneva
Our client is a leading Data Centre business, who are growing at pace across EMEA. The business is full of excellent talent and they're growing their EHS team. We are looking for an expert in Environment, Health & Safety within construction, overseeing two key areas - Switzerland and Germany.
The role will support the EMEA leader, and as the Regional EHS Director Construction, you will take a pivotal role in overseeing all matters relating to health and safety for these two regions. The role entails the inclusion of works within Construction delivery until handover from the General Contractor to Operations.
You will be a strategic, driven individual, to ensure a consistent approach is taken to EHS across the regions’ Construction portfolio. A team player approach is essential, with ambition to grow, capable of creating the conditions for both the organisation and people to deliver and realise their potential. You will monitor, observe and support the region to deliver EHS excellence, promoting a psychological and physically safe environment across the data centres being built in these regions.
The role requires representing the business, being the Construction voice of EHS in the region. You will support the EHS Senior Director Construction – EMEA in discharging legislative requirements as stipulated by the relevant Statutory regulations/laws for those regions. We need someone who understands the legislation for these regions from a health and safety construction point of view.
You will be a strategic leader and will deploy the EHS annual plan for continued improvement in the Construction region. You need to be outward facing, someone who can bring teams and people together to ensure what the business is doing is correct. You will promote regional EHS meetings, working closely with your wider EMEA EHS team.
Attention to detail is key; we are looking for a leader who can create accurate reporting of EHS performance and present this all to the wider organisation.
Skills Required
* Knowledge of regional EHS legislative requirements
* Demonstrates a high level of gravitas
* English proficiency – written and oral
* Effective communication
* Ability to remain impartial
* Problem-solving attitude with a crucial ability to meet deadlines combined with strong planning and organizational skills
* Ability to manage your own workload and be part of a collaborative team
* 3+ years of experience in an EHS role or similar – e.g., Employee Safety Representative
* Experience of Data Centre operations
* Experience of working in a critical systems environment
* Previous exposure to construction methodology
* Knowledge of Electrical Safety (Energized Electrical Work, Arc Flash, LOTO etc.)
* Holds regional or international base level EHS qualification
