The subject area of 'Cycling' is currently already represented in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and is to be developed into an independent professorship. The professorship will be funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and established in co-operation with the city administration of Bochum.The focus of the professorship to be created here is on the integrated planning, construction and CAD-supported design of cycle traffic facilities. Courses in these topics are to be held in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. The subject area also includes planning procedures for the approval of cycling facilities, road traffic law, road safety and the operation and maintenance of cycling facilities.
