Description OUR IMPACT The Private Bank is a business unit of the Asset and Wealth Management Division (AWM) that provides tailored lending and banking products, such as bank loans, mortgages, deposits and margin financings, to high-net-worth clients of the firm’s global Wealth Management businesses. The Private Bank has an ambitious growth agenda, which will require more investment in appropriately managing operational and regulatory risks. YOUR IMPACT The Private Bank has established a GRA team of seven with one in Frankfurt, three in London and three in New York The global head of the GRA Team sits in London. The GRA Team has established and oversees a robust governance and controls program, proactively managing the Private Bank’s regulatory relationships and requirements across the broad range of jurisdictions in which it operates, examining processes and procedures to drive business efficiency and profitability, and providing legal and regulatory expertise in structuring specific transactions. The three principal areas the GRA team focuses on are: (i) governance and controls; (ii) regulatory oversight and reporting and (iii) transaction execution and projects. As a member of the Private Bank Governance and Regulatory Affairs team (the “ GRA team ”), you will play a key role in a growing business, where you will be part of a team that builds, manages and oversees the Private Bank’s (i) governance and controls framework; and (ii) regulatory affairs and culture of compliance, in order to deliver efficiencies and manage and mitigate various risks, always in a manner that enables excellence in execution for its clients. As part of the firm’s desire to increase durable revenues, the Private bank is growing. The GRA team is an integral part of the Private Bank’s first line of defence. General Providing advisory services to the wider Private Bank on governance and regulatory affairs. Managing multiple tasks and using sound judgment when prioritising. Establishing trusted partnerships with peers, functional leads, and executive level stakeholders. Helping drive execution of the business strategy across multiple functions including new product development, risk management, reporting, and service delivery. Collaborating with large groups of cross-divisional resources to advance business objectives, including Private Bank Lenders, the Private Bank Underwriting team, the Private Bank Deposits team, Operations, Technology, Controllers, Treasury, Credit, Legal, and Compliance, as well as entity, divisional and firm leadership. Supporting the management of large-scale projects and business priorities; project management responsibilities could include leading cross-divisional working groups, establishing and managing project timelines and key deliverables. Governance and Controls Providing oversight for new activities and significant new business initiatives impacting the business and ensuring connectivity with firmwide stakeholders, committees and working groups. Overseeing Private Bank product governance to ensure the right policies and procedures are in place. Devising action plans in response to regulator and internal feedback to ensure the Private Bank has the right controls, policies and procedures to mitigate and manage risk from a first line of defence and ensure such action plans are implemented in a timely manner. Preparing materials for and presenting and attending at various internal working groups, committees and board meetings. Working on providing bank product governance, which mean establishing policies, procedures, controls across all of the Private Bank product types. Implementing controls to ensure new regulations and laws are adhered to by the Private Bank Assisting with the Risk, Control and Self-Assessment (RCSA) including coordinating and executing requirements per Firmwide standards. Co-ordinating outsourcing and Business Continuity Plans. Co-ordination of Private Bank audits (both internal and external). Assisting with Private Bank legal entity oversight and governance, including senior manager reporting and board reporting. Regulatory Oversight Working with compliance and other stakeholders to ensure the Private bank has excellent relations with its regulators and completes all relevant exams in a timely and professional manner. Assisting with proactively managing the Private Bank’s regulatory relationships with its global regulators Coordinating and assisting with the Private Bank’s regulatory reporting. Preparing materials for and taking part in interactions with the Private Bank’s regulators. Assisting with the Private Bank’s resolution planning. Maintaining external knowledge of regulatory/compliance expectations, industry trends and emerging threats/risks. Transaction Execution Assisting with actively managing US bank regulations, specially 23A and Reg W. Providing legal and regulatory expertise in structuring specific transactions. Providing oversight for new activities and significant new business initiatives impacting the business and ensure connectivity with firmwide stakeholders, committees and working groups. Organising the Private Bank’s response to meet firmwide project deliverables. REQUIREMENTS A Bachelor’s degree with some relevant professional experience within financial services, or providing services to the financial services. Strong presentation skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and leadership presence Must be independent and comfortable in a fast paced, ambiguous, and often multi-directional work environment. Ability to be creative, collaborate widely and deliver on key risk objectives in a fast-paced start-up environment. A desire to learn new skills and grow. Team oriented; strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities within deadlines. Flexible and able to work well under pressure in a team environment. Prior experience of working within a global investment bank would be a plus. Clear English communication skills (written and spoken) German communication skills (written and spoken) preferred Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and time management skills Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to present and communicate status and risks and technical details with impact and influence.
