Technical Operations Manager / Master Craftsman (Electrical Engineering) (Technischer Betriebsleiter / Handwerksmeister Elektrotechnik)
Role Summary
The Technical Operations Manager / Master Craftsman is responsible for managing and monitoring all craft activities in the company. This position ensures that all work is completed on time and professionally. The job holder also assumes responsibility for the technical decisions, occupational safety and the organisational, personnel and business aspects of the craft business. In urgent cases, the Master Craftsman must be available and ready for action at all times.
Key Responsibilities
· Monitoring and execution of craft orders:
- Ensuring that all craft orders are completed on time and professionally, including monitoring all craft activities
- Intervening when necessary, especially if deviations or problems arise, to ensure the quality and safety of the work
· Technically qualified work:
- Carrying out specialised craft activities that may only be carried out by a Master Craftsman, especially those that require special expertise
· Occupational safety and accident prevention:
- Responsibility for compliance with all relevant regulations on occupational safety and accident prevention throughout the craft business
- Implementation and monitoring of measures to ensure a safe working environment
· Technical decisions and emergency management:
- Responsibility for all technical decisions in the company and ensuring compliance with legal regulations for manual work
- Be available at all times in urgent and emergency cases in order to take necessary measures and solve problems quickly
· Organisation, human resources management and business administration:
- Responsibility for the organisational planning and implementation of the manual work as well as personnel deployment planning
- Controlling business aspects, including cost control, material procurement and budget monitoring, to ensure economical operations
Skills Required
· Professional competence:
- Excellent technical skills and in-depth specialist knowledge in the respective craft area
- Sound knowledge of occupational safety and accident prevention regulations as well as relevant legal requirements (norms etc.)
· Leadership and management:
- Leadership skills to (indirectly) manage a team of tradespeople, including the ability to motivate, train and develop employees
- Organisational and planning skills to design and monitor work processes efficiently
· Problem-solving and decision-making ability:
- Ability to make quick and informed decisions in critical situations
- Proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure quality and efficiency of work
· Business knowledge:
- Basic business knowledge to control and optimise operational processes, including budgeting and cost control
· Language skills:
- Good to very good knowledge of English is an advantage
Education
· Completed Master's degree in the field of Electrical Engineering
· Additional qualifications in the areas of occupational safety or business administration are an advantage
Professional Experience Required
· Several years of professional experience in a skilled trade, ideally in a management position
· Experience in managing a craft business or team and in organising work processes
