Job Summary:
Under general supervision from the Sr Project Manager, this Assistant Project Manager role is responsible for scope control, change management, budget control, risk management, schedule adherence and integration for the assigned areas of the ship.
This position requires good communication skills, attention to detail, ability to process large quantities of data accurately, good judgment and prioritization, and the person is essential to fostering collaboration and coordination of all work streams with creative, design, production, and construction teams in the delivery of the vessel to be ready for guests on board.
This role is based in Papenburg, Germany and it will require you to be onsite at the shipyard.
What You Will Do:
1. Accountable for fiscal and schedule performance of assigned areas of the ship
2. Assists with the identification, impact assessment, and disposition of project changes
3. Understand project scoping documents, risk log, schedule, and plans
4. Ensure alignment of scope to budget
5. Present project status, risks, opportunities, and issues to Senior Leadership
6. Produce and quality check routine and ad hoc reporting
7. Review of detail design / shop drawings for compliance with Disney, ADA, SOLAS standards and integration and notating comments where variances exist
8. Assists in developing mitigations to variances to the project plan and drives corrective actions
9. Develop tracking tools to ensure comments are incorporated into design and the Disney Furnishes Items are delivered and installed on schedule
10. Collaborate with internal and external organizations including project team, operations, authorities, suppliers, and contractors
11. Support preparation of contract documents for bid packages
12. Understand project workflows, design inputs and outputs, and project sequencing relationships
13. Participate in the identification and assessment of project risk and contingency determinations
14. Assists in the design coordination to ensure a good integration of other disciplines
What You Will Have:
15. Minimum 2 years relevant experience in Project Management or Project Controls
16. High-End Hospitality/Resort or Ship Building experience preferred
17. Ability to think tactically and apply problem solving skills
18. Basic leadership skills and partnering ability
19. Meeting leadership, facilitation, basic conflict resolution, and alignment skills
20. Good communication, collaboration, technical writing, and interpersonal skills
21. Design Management skills to check standards and quality during design phases (drawings reviews) and during construction (onsite inspections)
22. Knowledge of design, production, and/or construction
23. Understanding of the relationship between scope, cost, and schedule and implications of impact of one to the other
24. Understanding of contract administration, contract management, legal and commercial terms, and basic negotiation skills
25. Able to understand design standards and drawings
26. Understanding of project plans and change management
27. Stress tolerance
28. Adapt to changing project demands, collaborates with diverse project teams and meets milestone schedule expectations/deadlines
29. Effectively summarize communications for executive management
30. Previous ship building experience is desirable, although project management of highly themed land based project is also applicable.
Education:
31. 4-year undergraduate degree, preferably in a core technical field such as engineering, architecture, construction management or equivalent work experience in project management
