In order to support the “Aeromechanics and Performances” department in charge of general helicopter design studies in the areas of aerodynamics, thermals, icing, flight mechanics, performance and flight loops, Airbus Helicopters is looking for an
Intern (m/d/f) within Helicopter handling qualities in yaw under influence of wind and stabilization
Location: Donauwörth
Start: Datum / as soon as possible
Duration: 3-6 months
Your location
At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities
* How good / bad are handling qualities in yaw with aerodynamic interactions and gust influence in quartering flight with and without SAS / AP?
* Is exit from tail rotor vortex ring state dependent on input strategy?
* Simulation of helicopters in trim and maneuvers coupled with 3D-interactional aerodynamic simulation
* HC-Modeling for comprehensive codes and fast aerodynamic simulation codes
* Autopilot control in the simulation loop
* Complex aerodynamics of helicopters
Desired skills and qualifications
* Enrolled full-time student (m/f/d) in the area of engineering or an equivalent field of study
* First experience within general aerodynamics
* First experience within numerical aerodynamics
* General flight mechanics knowledge
* First experience within programming (experiences with python is an asset)
* Soft Skills: autonomy, rigor, curiosity and initiative
* Linux shell knowledge is of advantage
* English - negotiable
* German - intermediate (optional)
