Summary
The HSE Head will be responsible for all HSE compliance aspects of a dynamic Radioligand Therapy (RLT) drug product manufacturing plant.
About the Role
Key Responsbilities:
* As a member of the site leadership team, lead the creation of an injury-free work environment that protects employees from hazards (including radiation exposure) using a strong hierarchy of controls.
* Drive the implementation and execution of the HSE roadmap defined by the company, working closely with all functions within the site and the broader Novartis organization.
* Function as the Site Radiation Safety subject matter expert and collaborate with operations and technical teams to safely manage radioactive materials from raw materials to finished product and waste disposal.
* Maintain knowledge of and ensure strict adherence to all applicable regulatory compliance standards including Radiation Safety, Governance, Business Continuity & Emergencies Management and Environmental Health and Safety.
* Coordinate timely application and renewals for all required HSE permits to ensure continuous operations and support all regulatory inspections and audits.
* Serve as the site Radiation Safety Officer and collaborate with the operations and technical teams to safely manage radioactive materials from raw materials to product and waste.
* Support Project Manager in the development of the project specific HSE Strategy, selection of competent team members, determination of competency of planned / assigned resources (internal and external) and ensuring that external contractors have HSE plans.
* Support Site Leadership Team in designing the site-specific HSE by Design procedure.
* Align involvement of above site HSE and Project Manager depending on the project's inherent hazard potential.
Essential Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in industrial hygiene, health and safety, engineering or related field or a minimum of 5 additional years of relevant experience.
* Previous experience in HSE management systems, including 2 years in a cGMP manufacturing environment OR another relevant regulated environment.
* Significant experience building an injury and error-free culture with advanced knowledge of multiple HSE compliance related areas.
* Training and certification in radiation safety is ideal.
* Fluent in German and English.
