VP of Risk Management
Our client is seeking a VP of Risk Management. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive risk management strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable business growth. In this role you will act as a key strategic partner, collaborating across departments to manage financial and non-financial risks while integrating risk considerations into company operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a strategic advisor to management, providing guidance on operational risk, financial risk planning, and capital adequacy.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks, provide insights, and implement solutions that balance business growth with risk mitigation.
* Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to embed risk considerations into product development and infrastructure scaling.
* Develop and maintain a risk management framework that aligns with regulatory standards, including BaFin and FCA requirements (MaRisk, ICAAP, ILAAP, ICARA).
* Monitor emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends to enhance scalable risk solutions.
* Communicate risk assessments, stress tests, and mitigation strategies to auditors and regulators.
* Utilise technology and data analytics to optimise risk management processes and reporting.
* Build and lead a high-performing risk management team, fostering growth and operational excellence.
Requirements:
* At least 10 years of experience in risk management within fintech or financial services.
* Proven ability to scale risk management practices in a high-growth environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory concepts into actionable strategies.
* Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities.
* Ability to influence cross-functional discussions and drive strategic decision-making.
* Deep knowledge of BaFin and FCA regulatory frameworks.
