Purpose:
Act as “Strategic Business Partner”, “Advisor” and “Leader” to the Global Sales business units/functions (eg. WHS, Retail & Franchise, DPC, Key Cities) and also the Western Europe HQ business unit/functions (eg. Category BU's, Brand Activation, Prcurement, Bus & Sales Dev) (together "GS & WE HQ"), taking responsibility for all relevant Legal & Compliance issues. Manage and lead the Legal & Compliance team for GS & WE HQ, ensuring that they are providing the best legal & compliance advice, solutions and challenges to enable strategic initiatives and protecting and enhancing the Group’s assets. Serve as the GS & WE HQ extension of Global Legal to ensure consistent and high standard of all Global Legal & Compliance standards and principles throughout those business units.
Key Accountabilities:
Team Leadership
* Strategically lead and be responsible for the provision of legal services and compliance requirements to GS & WE HQ units by providing direction to the Legal & Compliance team in accordance with global and local strategies.
* Define the team’s organizational structure, set objectives, and manage workloads and results to achieve goals while adopting best practices and achieving continuous process improvement.
* Ensure high team engagement at every level through effective motivation, coaching, training, and development of personnel.
Business Partnering
* Take a pro-active role with the senior team leads of GS & WE HQ, in the design and implementation of GS & WE HQ strategic plans.
* Maintain a high level of interaction with senior team leads of GS & WE HQ and actively help develop business strategy & initiatives with effective legal and compliance advice, measures, solutions and challenges.
Legal Role
* Lead the management, negotiation and resolution of key, complex and high value legal and business issues for client groups within GS & WE HQ.
* Lead selected GS & WE HQ legal projects and co-ordinate their rollout across all Markets.
* Provide expert guidance and advice on key, complex and high value contract law matters and also on competion law/anti-trust matters supproting key strategic plan development.
* Oversea the continual development of proactive and reactive training and learning materials that are applicable and relevant to stakeholders.
* Drive innovative and value-adding business processes, policies and solutions.
* Ensure and promote cross-functional collaboration and support the ‘One Group Legal team’ philosophy.
Compliance
* Support the driving of an ethics and compliance culture and ensure all related matters are appropriately handled, including all aspects of communication, education, and the implementation of the Compliance program within key stakeholder business units and functions.
People
* Create an environment which promotes and sets the foundation for excellence in execution.
* Create opportunities to act as a coach/mentor for legal and non-legal stakeholders.
Knowledge, Capabilities & Experience:
* Proven commercial and strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
* Ability to develop and implement strategy.
* Comprehensive business understanding of processes and structure.
* Must have the ability to interact at the highest levels of GS & WE HQ and Global Legal busines untis & functions
* An acute sense and experience of legal business management and administration with an ability to make practical evaluations of risk.
* Expert in contract law, drafting, negotiation and business counselling.
* Strong understanding and experience of competition law/anti-trust legal Issues
* Ability to work both independently and as the leader of a team, and to manage and prioritise substantial and diverse workloads.
* Ability to effectively communicate complex issues in a clear, concise & comprehensible manner.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
* Must be fluent in English.
Qualifications:
1. Law degree with local legal professional admission in good standing.
2. +10 years of law firm or corporate counsel experience in general corporate, transactional and commercial law.
3. Experience within a multinational company with multi-market teams.
