Hauptaufgaben Serves as the information system administrator providing advice and technical expertise on all matters pertaining to the local automation systems, peripherals and any issues regarding the connectivity of these systems to the network for an organizational element of the TLSC-E which may result in providing these services to remote/off-site locations. Local System encompass personal computers, peripherals (local and network printers, digital senders, scanning devices, fax machines, laser engraver systems etc.) in stand-alone and network configurations using standard software and applications for networking and data communications word processing, data storage and processing, and Standard Army Management Information Systems (STAMIS), and other unique (internally) developed systems to support the operation. Incumbents' functions include the administration of the user's network home directory residing on server systems. Initiates requests for improvement to current systems and develops local solutions where possible. Serves as the local system administrator and local ADP security manager for office automation network - Independently manages the Microsoft ADUC (Active Directory Users and Computers) program for his Organizational Unit (OU) within the Army EUR.DS.ARMY.MIL Domain. Creates, configures and maintains User and Computer Accounts and Active Directory Domain Groups (Security and Distribution). Initiates, requests and maintains user e-mail accounts. - Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains operating software to ensure the availability and functionality of systems. Independently maintains all existing systems. Ensures that local systems are maintained IAW approved standards and that the systems will meet the needs of the functional users. Trouble shoots problems and applies unique or innovative solutions to resolve system problems. Ensures that system availability remains high and that accessibility to home directory and network shares is available, provide local assistance, and trouble shoot problems beyond the capability of the operators. If problem can't be resolved locally, initiates a repair ticket via Enterprise Service Desk (ESD/119) ticket system. In his function as the organizational elements IT Specialist, closely works the ESD to ensure provision of IT Services. Creates, reviews and handles Incident Tickets of his own, from users and / or assigned by ESD. Validates as to backup procedures are in place and executed IAW established standards, Serves as the organizational elements POC for HQ TLSC-E in regards to life cycle of local systems. Reviews new and proposed software release packages and provides variation requirements to HQ, TLSC-E. Installs new packages or updates software already installed. Coordinates and plans for the installation of new equipment and the movement/reinstallation of existing equipment. Monitors job in progress of the system to correct potential problems. Ensures continuity of operations. Makes necessary adjustments during operations. Works with users to identify the true source of failures of application packages, operating systems or hardware. Develops alternative ways for ADP job scheduling and modifies hardware/software configurations in order to accommodate new requirements, resolves system and/or software failures to increase operational effectiveness and flexibility. - Independently or with the assistance of higher level IT Specialists, resolves hardware and software failures by modifying system operations or job processing in a manner that allows working through or around the problems with reduced capacity, and readjusting the system when full operating configuration is restored, with the objective of keeping system downtime to a minimum. Determines corrective action to be taken in case of unprecedented system failures, requesting assistance from appropriate computer specialists, or vendors when problems cannot be resolved. Executes appropriate file and system backup / restore procedures to ensure availability of data upon system failure and reload. Develops contingency plans to ensure continuity of operations during times of system failures. Performs other duties as assigned.
