Description Region West Europe is part of the Maritime business area, serving our clients across 10 countries. The Region includes all operational classification services: Fleet in Service (FiS), Newbuilding (NB) and Classification & Verification of Material and Components (CMC/VMC). The FIS (Ships in Operation) team deals with a large variety of vessel types, with special focus on MPVs, Container Ships, Offshore Service Vessels, Passenger Vessels, HSLC, Navy Vessels and Tankers. Then we are looking for you to join us as Surveyor for Fleet in Service, based in Bremerhaven. You will become a member of a highly qualified and enthusiastic FiS team. Due to the nature of our business and exposure to high-profile clients, the position requires a candidate who can apply and interpret DNV rules and international standards in a competent and practical manner, whilst maintaining an adequate level of compliance and safety. The role requires a certain self-discipline and strong safety mindset to adapt to dynamically changing conditions and environment. You should have the necessary technical background and experience to be able to commence work after the orientation and training period. Training time frame will be agreed with the candidate. Once qualified you will work autonomously at client assets and locations, supported by a network of highly competent competent of Surveyors, technical experts and DNV’s Technical Help Desk. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture or Marine, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Master Mariner or equivalent field Min. 3 years of experience in the maritime industry on passenger ships/ cargo ships Understanding of class and statutory tasks of a Surveyor and responsibilities, incl. management systems Experiences or qualification as Auditor desirable Team player and ability to work independently Proven decision making and problem-solving skills Commercial awareness and a customer-centric mindset Asks for and acts on feedback to learn and improve Good communication skills in the English and German language, both verbal and in writing Holding a valid driver’s license and flexible to travel within Germany and Region West Europe Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, if the job requires Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job, such as climbing pilot ladders, tank inspections, voyage surveys, etc.
