Postdoctoral Scientist (f/m/d) – Development of Industrial All-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells Reference No.: SE /27 The Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) is a research center for fundamental and applied research in the field of energy materials. For the next generation photovoltaics (PV), HZB performs materials research and device development up to the industrial level. The department of perovskite tandem solar cells develops metal halide perovskite solar cells for the application in tandems and achieved several world records for perovskite-silicon (29.8%) and perovskite-CIGS (24.2%) tandem solar cells in the past years. One research area within the department focuses on the development of perovskite / perovskite tandem solar cells. This type of solar cell is a thin-film technology and promises very interesting applications. Together with an industrial partner, you will be involved in the research and development of perovskite / perovskite tandem solar cells. You will investigate fundamental material properties, charge carrier dynamics and explore new device configurations. In particular, you will develop concepts for improved efficiency and stability. To reach our ambitious goals, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced scientist/postdoc in the field of perovskite solar cells, who is eager to work in our team of ca. 25 postdocs, PhD and master students in an international and multidisciplinary group. Your Tasks * Manufacturing of highly efficient perovskite / perovskite tandem solar cells * Specific device characterization, experimental loss analysis, and simulation of single and tandem solar cells * Hands-on processing of individual process steps * Coordinating development work and experiments in cooperation of the industrial partner * Publication of the scientific results as well as project proposal writing and acquisition of new third party funded projects Your Profile * Completed doctoral degree in materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering or a related field * In-depth knowledge of semiconductor technology and the physics of solar cells * Hands-on experience in processing thin films and solar cells in the field of perovskite technology * Excellent analytical skills * Excellent communication and organizational skills * Enthusiasm about solar cells with drive for efficiency and team spirit Your Benefits * The opportunity to develop new materials for the next generation of photovoltaics * Postdoc in Berlin in a vital city * State-of-the-art labs and infrastructure for perovskite solar cells * Integration into specific EU, national, and industry projects * A growing (>25 persons), highly motivated group with pleasant atmosphere, a supportive environment, and regular social activities * Networking at international conferences * Attractive fringe benefits, including a company pension scheme (Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder, VBL) * A wide range of training programs * 39 hours/week * 30 days holiday * Work-life balance through flexible working hours, possibility of working from home, and an internal counselling center for work-life balance concerns * Extensive counselling services on family and career planning * Health management and company sports programs * Subsidy for public transport (Deutschlandticket Job) * And a team that looks forward to meeting you! Fixed term contract for 24 months. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund). How to apply We look forward to receiving your application via our application management system by22.12.. For reasons of data protection regulations, we are unfortunately unable to consider applications that reach us by other means (such as email or mail) in the application process.
