The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences I invites applications for a PhD position (m/f/d) in the DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG) 2498 "Communication and Dynamics of Plant Cell Compartments" The Research Training Group 2498 "Communication and Dynamics of Plant Cell Compartments" is a structured PhD program funded by the “Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft” (DFG). The RTG 2498 brings together groups from different contributing institutes at the Martin Luther University Halle Wittenberg and the associated Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB), providing graduate students a stimulating and interdisciplinary scientific environment with access to diverse methodological and instrumental competencies. The institutions are all located at Halle's Weinberg Campus, the second largest science campus in East Germany, which houses most of the university's natural sciences as well as several research institutes and approx. 80 biotechnology companies. The position is funded from 01 July 2025 to 30 June 2028, with a salary in accordance with Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L (65%). Job description Perform experimental research within the framework of subproject P05 of the RTG2498, which focuses on jasmonic acid-dependent activation of growth and defense responses in cell specific contexts. The PhD student will be based in Debora Gasperini’s lab at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry Plan and execute molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology experiments Present and publish scientific results Requirements An excellent MSc degree (or equivalent) in biology or biochemistry Strong interest in plant stress responses and organelle biology Proficiency in molecular biology, RNA regulation, biochemistry or cell biology Scientific curiosity and rigor, proactivity and accountability Excellent English skills, both written and spoken Motivated to work in a highly cooperative manner within the RTG
