An Oracle Data Centre Technician will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Centre Environment. You can troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues, you understand which issues to escalate to the appropriate resolver groups. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes and introduce automation with an aim towards simplification.
This position involves working on a 24/7 shift rota system 365 days per year.

Requirements:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
2. 4-8 years of experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems), supporting and troubleshooting distributed, N-Tier applications, software, and operating systems.
3. Strong Leadership experience.
4. Experience working in a mission-critical operations environment.
5. The position has a physical component requiring the ability to lift to 25Kg and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations.
6. Thorough understanding of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant & and operation thereof.
7. Airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment .
8. Rack, and stack equipment including commissioning of new racks.
9. Strong structured cabling skills on fiber & and copper ( looming, term & test).
Required systems & hardware expertise:
10. Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers - especially command line based)
11. Hardware repair, diagnosis & break/fix
12. Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting)
13. IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO)
14. Base Operating System Installs and Configuration
15. Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, Serial communication etc.
Role Responsibilities:
16. Act as technical liaison for our technical teams.
17. Understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in a timely manner.
18. Understand customer urgencies and sensitivity of problems.
19. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
20. Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware and software.
21. Provide 2nd level technical support for complex issues which may include leading problem management cases and providing status updates.
22. Manage escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or 3rd party vendors until resolution.
23. Assist with server operating system and application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching.
24. Working on standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack, while providing consistent system uptime as expected in a IaaS environment.
25. Advanced knowledge of network architecture and protocols.
26. Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using major scripting languages (Powershell, Bash, Perl, .
27. Outstanding organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively, and experience with technical project management.
28. Experience providing client-facing, direct customer support and service.
29. Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, and tactful manner.
30. Ability to work productively in cross-functional teams or resourcefully and independently as an individual.
