As a global semiconductor leader in power systems and IoT, we enable game-changing solutions for green and efficient energy, clean and safe mobility, as well as smart and secure IoT. That's why you probably use our products every day: smartphone, charger, electric toothbrush, coffee machine, refrigerator, remote control and much more. In the trapped ion quantum computing team, the focus is to enable scalable trapped ion quantum computing with innovate circuit designs. During this thesis you will be asked to research and compare different relevant SPAD parameters and methods to measure them. This includes the practical aspect of finding and acquiring optical components and lab equipment. We are looking forward to your application!
1. Experience research : You will design and build a characterization setup to find the best SPAD (single photon avalanche diode) arrays for our specific application
2. Lab work : You gain practical experience working with Lasers, optics and electrical measurements
3. Collaboration : You will be part of a research team consisting of industry and academic partners
4. Quantum technology : You will gain understanding of ion traps, optical clocks and quantum computing
5. Passion : You have a high interest on the scientific research combined with the passion for optics and lab work
6. Study field : You are currently studying Physics, Photonics, Quantum Science or a related field with a solid foundation in optics
7. Experience : You have some experience with working in an optics lab, you have heard about Laser physics and know a programming language (preferably Python)
8. Motivation : You are motivated by improving measurements and pushing the limits on accuracy and stability; you are interested in technology as much as in basic physics; prior knowledge of atomic clocks is a plus
9. Collaboration: You enjoy networking and have broad communication skills
10. Language skills : You have English skills, both written and spoken, German language skills are a plus
