The Chair of Mathematical Data Science at the University of Passau invites applications for the position of Doctoral Researcher to start on 1 January 2025 or later. This is a part-time (75% full-time equivalent) position for three years with the option of increasing the working hours. Duties and responsibilities Plan, administer and deliver classes of a total of approximately 3.5 teaching contact hours per week Collaborate on research regarding approximate sampling of distributions, analysis of Markov chain Monte Carlo methods, Bayesian inference and algorithmic design in general on the borderline between Machine Learning and mathematics Organise and support conferences/sessions/workshops and grant proposals Person specification Must have a master’s degree and a strong background in mathematics, statistics, Machine Learning or a related field Strong theoretical background in at least one of the following areas: Stochastic processes Markov chain Monte Carlo Quasi-Monte Carlo Bayesian inference What we offer you Remuneration in accordance with pay grade E13 of the German public-sector collective agreement TV-L; the salary step depends on your qualifications and experience.
