About the Role Our client, a major insurance company in Cologne, is seeking a Senior IT Auditor to join their internal audit team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a market leader, assessing and strengthening IT controls, cybersecurity measures, and regulatory compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring IT operations remain secure, compliant, and efficient. Key Responsibilities Plan, execute, and report on IT audits covering infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives. Evaluate IT risk management frameworks and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, Solvency II, BaFin regulations). Identify and report vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in IT systems and processes. Collaborate with IT, risk management, and compliance teams to strengthen governance and security measures. Stay updated on emerging IT risks, technologies, and best practices to refine audit methodologies. Support external auditors and regulatory bodies during IT-related audits and assessments. Provide strategic recommendations to senior management on IT governance, cybersecurity, and operational resilience. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in IT auditing, IT security, or risk management, preferably in the insurance or financial services sector. Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of IT frameworks, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, NIST, ISO 27001). Experience with auditing cloud environments, data protection, and digital transformation projects. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. Fluency in English and German is required.
