Job Description Senior Data Analyst Overview We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Data Analyst candidate who can address our clients? business needs with excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, a deep understanding of common data analysis tools, datasets and reporting applications and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate can leverage large transactional databases, such as accounts payable data, to glean valuable insights and pinpoint potential discrepancies. You will be asked to work on both client deliverables, and development of proprietary core capabilities. The position requires a team player that seeks to supplement their skills through the use of project experience, self-study, and an ongoing desire to learn and grow. The resource will also be expected to help manage certain client projects as they gather more experience, so the role requires strong communication and project management skills, and the ability to be comfortable in a client-facing setting. Responsibilities Work with internal Data Intelligence team to develop solutions to solve our clients? business needs with big data Analyze/interpret complex data from large, disparate data sources to create actionable insights and metrics for clients Help develop and review dashboards focusing on spend analysis, payment performance, SKU-level analytics, spend classification, etc. Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques Coordinate with internal data services team to receive complete, accurate data on an ongoing basis Develop processes, tools and checklists to monitor and analyze data model performance and accuracy Analyze and extract data from 3rdparty providers and integrate into our data models and dashboards Meet with internal team members on daily status update calls Manage and lead certain client projects Proactively reach out to clients with status updates Requirements 4-year degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Analytics, Statistics, Computer/Data Science, IT or another relevant field 3 years recent hands-on experience working with data tools like or SQL and Python Strong MS Excel skills Excellent problem solving and communication skills ? able to comprehend the problem, translate into technical specs, evaluate potential solutions and execute the plan even when unexpected challenges arise Preferred 2 years of professional experience in consulting, retail, merchandising or similar field performing detailed business or financial analysis Preferred experience working with transactional and master data, such as sales, accounts payable/receivable, purchase orders, vendor master, etc. Desire and ability to take on a client facing role Able to work independently for long durations with minimal direction Able to QA their own work and deliver client-ready output (does not rely on manager to uncover errors) Able to provide accurate timing estimates for completion of tasks up front, and ensure timely delivery of those tasks according to the original timeline Proactively communicate in multiple ways: Helps with continuous improvement, such as identifying potential pitfalls or opportunity areas in current data models and dashboards (e.g. inefficiencies in certain expressions, coding errors, performance optimization, etc.) Exhibits flexibility in changing approaches to solving problems based on fluid nature of client needs Nice To Have Experience with building dashboards and navigating data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense Experience working with data specific to retail, such as Sales, COGS, and promotional and vendor funding data Familiarity with Source-to-Pay, Spend Classification and related business processes Management consulting or similar data analytics/software services experience Benefits: Full-time contract.
