The Position
What’s the job about?
At Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) – Large Molecule Research (LMR), our vision is to create novel and highly differentiated medicines. To this end, we discover and develop novel therapeutic antibodies and next generation biologics, such as bispecific antibodies or fusion proteins. Our ambition is to deliver such novel molecules to patients with game changing clinical benefit.
Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) are critical to the success of our company and our impact on society. We believe that by championing diversity of background, thought and experience, we can foster a sense of belonging and provide an environment where every employee feels valued, included, and able to contribute their best for the patients we serve. We’re focused on attracting, retaining, developing and advancing our people to their full potential by rewarding bold ways of thinking and integrating inclusive behaviors into every aspect of our work.
We are looking for a 6 months intern in the Mass Spectrometry Department at Roche pRED LMR in Penzberg. You will work at the interface between biochemical analytics and mass spectrometry. The focus of your work is the development and implementation of innovative analytical methods via HPLC and mass spectrometry for physicochemical characterization of complex therapeutic proteins.
Your work will focus on the in-depth characterization of complex biologics by the combination of physicochemical methods that span over two Departments (Biochemistry and Mass Spectrometry). You will be the bridge that fosters collaboration and innovation in the discovery of next generation biologics. This position therefore offers the opportunity to interact with numerous functions within Roche to deliver novel medicines to patients.
What exciting tasks will be part of your daily work?

2. Support of interdisciplinary teams within the unit of Molecule Characterization.
3. You will be closely interacting and collaborating with scientists from protein analytics, bio processing and data science in a cross-functional matrix.
4. Presentation of data internally and externally, as well as literature research, will be part of your tasks.
Do you have what it takes for this position?
5. You are in your BSc/MSc degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular (cell) biology, biotechnology or a related field.
6. Prior experience in protein biochemistry (LC) and/or mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a plus.
7. Excellent English skills (written and spoken) complete your profile.
8. You are goal oriented, have a strong drive, analytical mindset and motivation to achieve excellence; you are willing to perform wet lab experiments and eager to establish new techniques.
