The DFDS location in Neuenkirchen Vorden is one of four sites that are part of the Premium Continent Cold Group, which in turn is part of the Logistics Division of DFDS. The other sites are located in Nijmegen (NL), Winterswijk (NL) and Szubin (PL). We are market leaders in conditioned transport of fresh meat.
The Premium Continent Cold locations of DFDS provide safe and conditioned groupage transport for time-sensitive products, mainly daily fresh food products. The transportation of these products such as vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, etc. is a complex process and therefore a real challenge. It requires excellence to ensure that the fragile products remain perfectly fresh throughout the logistics chain, thus preserving their value. Daily flexibility, speed and full commitment are indispensable in this.
You will report to the Head of Premium Continent Cold.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Lead the team in Neuenkirchen-Vorden to maintain and develop DFDS’ position as market leader.
2. The General Manager of Neuenkirchen-Vorden is a significant position in the Premium Continent Cold leadership team, playing a vital role in the achievement of the overall business objectives.
3. You will have the responsibility for the end-to-end operational performance of the business through robust performance management focusing upon optimization, efficiencies, and customer service levels. You will do this together with the local management team.
4. You’ll have responsibility for driving the growth of the business unit and developing a long-term commercial strategy for the next three to five years with organic growth as a key lever.
5. Work closely with the Premium Continent Cold management team to ensure the delivery of revenue and profit targets.
6. Identify opportunities to add value to existing operations through innovation, technology, and continuous improvement.
7. Strong international collaboration, service and cost control is fundamental to this position. You will have a profit and loss responsibility, whilst retaining a strong focus on growth.
8. We require you to have the ability to analyze data, both financial and operational, recognize trends, anticipate problems, drawing sound conclusions. All culminating with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and leading from the front.
Leadership:
1. The successful candidate will take overall leadership responsibility for more than 120 colleagues.
2. Being an energetic and inspiring leader who can develop strong working relationships with other team members and key function business partners, you’ll drive strategic agenda and guarantee the competitiveness of the entire organization.
3. Regularly review and define the capability required in the team and generate career progression opportunities for individuals who have the potential to develop.

Sales:
1. A key aspect will be driving the development of existing business, coinciding with finding new business and innovative opportunities to support the DFDS core business and growth strategies.
2. Outstanding interpersonal skills, a client-driven approach, and the ability to build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues at all levels, alongside communications skills which enable effortless interaction across multiple locations / countries.
3. Build a strong, close relationship with customers and act as the senior point of contact.
4. Constantly review operational performance to ensure contractual obligations are being met / exceeded and that customers are satisfied.
5. Develop key customer relationships at all levels to ensure the business is secure and opportunities for growth are identified.
Your Profile:

5. Must be fluent in English and German.
6. Must be able to travel regularly.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in successfully leading logistic operations with full P&L responsibility, combined with a track record of business development, resulting in consistent revenue and margin growth.
